Visa Types & Requirements
All foreign nationals wishing to visit Chad must obtain a visa prior to travel, with the exception of citizens of certain CEMAC and African Union member states. The Consulate in Nairobi processes visa applications for Kenya and the wider East African region.
Applications must be submitted in person or by authorised representative at the Consulate. Processing times begin from the date all required documents are received.

Visa fees are non-refundable. Submission of an application does not guarantee issuance. The Consulate reserves the right to request additional documentation or to refuse a visa application without stating reasons, in accordance with the sovereign rights of the Republic of Chad.

Tourist Visa
For leisure travel, tourism, and visiting friends or family in the Republic of Chad.
Requirements
- Valid passport (6+ months validity)
- Completed application form
- Recent passport-size photograph (white background)
- Return flight itinerary
- Hotel booking or invitation letter
- Bank statement (last 3 months)
- Travel insurance covering Chad
Business Visa
For business meetings, conferences, trade visits, and commercial activities in Chad.
Requirements
- Valid passport (6+ months validity)
- Completed application form
- Recent passport-size photograph
- Invitation letter from a Chadian company (on official letterhead)
- Company registration documents
- Bank statement (last 3 months)
- Return flight itinerary
Transit Visa
For travellers passing through Chad on the way to another destination.
Requirements
- Valid passport (6+ months validity)
- Completed application form
- Onward flight ticket
- Visa for destination country (if required)
- Recent passport-size photograph
Student Visa
For students enrolled in accredited educational institutions in the Republic of Chad.
Requirements
- Valid passport (6+ months validity)
- Completed application form
- Official admission letter from a Chadian institution
- Academic transcripts / certificates
- Proof of tuition payment or scholarship letter
- Bank statement showing sufficient funds
- Recent passport-size photograph
- Medical certificate
Diplomatic / Official
For diplomatic passport holders and government officials travelling on official duty.
Requirements
- Valid diplomatic or official passport
- Diplomatic note from sending government
- Completed application form

- Mission order or official letter
Press / Journalist Visa
For accredited journalists, media personnel, and documentary filmmakers.

- Ministry of Communication accreditation letter
