📂 Visa Applications
How long does it take to process a visa?
Standard processing takes 3–5 working days for tourist and business visas, 1–2 days for transit visas, and 5–7 days for student visas. Express processing (24–48 hours) is available for an additional fee, subject to availability.
Can I apply for a visa without an appointment?
Walk-in applications are accepted Monday to Friday between 9:00 AM and 11:30 AM only. We strongly recommend booking an appointment online to guarantee your slot and reduce waiting time.
Are visa fees refundable if my application is rejected?
No. Visa fees are non-refundable regardless of the outcome. Submission of an application does not guarantee approval.
Can I extend my visa once I am in Chad?
Visa extensions must be applied for at the Direction Générale de la Police du Territoire (DGPT) in N'Djamena before your current visa expires. The Consulate in Nairobi does not process extensions for visas already in use.
What is the maximum duration of a tourist visa?
Tourist visas are issued for a maximum of 90 days. Multiple-entry tourist visas allow cumulative stays not exceeding 90 days within a 12-month period.

How do I renew my Chadian passport in Kenya?
Chadian nationals in Kenya can apply for passport renewal at the Consulate by appointment. You will need your expired or expiring passport, a recent passport photo, proof of Chadian nationality, and payment of the applicable fee.
How long does passport processing take?
Passport applications are forwarded to the Direction Générale des Affaires Consulaires in N'Djamena. Processing typically takes 4–8 weeks. Emergency travel documents may be issued in urgent circumstances.
How do I get a document legalised or apostilled?
Bring the original document and a photocopy to the Consulate during submission hours. Documents must first be authenticated by the relevant Kenyan authority before the Consulate can legalise them. Processing takes 2–3 working days.

What are the Consulate's opening hours?
The Consulate is open Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM EAT. Document submissions are accepted from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM only. The Consulate is closed on Kenyan and Chadian public holidays.

Can I submit documents on behalf of someone else?
Yes, with written authorisation from the applicant. The authorised representative must present their own valid ID and the signed authorisation letter at the time of submission.

What should I do if I lose my passport in Kenya?
Report the loss immediately to the nearest Kenyan police station and obtain a Police Abstract. Then contact the Consulate with your police abstract, proof of identity, and any available travel documents. We can issue an emergency travel document.
